How Does Student Missions Work?
As a current student of Southwestern, you can take some time off of school to serve. You would still be enrolled as a full-time student, and get limited credits for that period of service. After your mission you will return to school full-time.

Becoming a Student Missionary
•The first step is simple: Pray
•Stop by the Missions office to get an information and document packet
• Attend an interview with Missions Council
• After completing the application process, we work with you to finalize travel plans

What’s in it for Me?
•You will have gained maturity, experience, and it looks great on your résumé.
•If you stay connected to God, you will deepen your relationship with Him.
•All return Student Missionaries receive a scholarship the next semester they attend Southwestern.

It’s Worth Your Time

FAQ's

•    What if I don’t have money?
The Lord provides. We will work with you to help fundraise for your trip. If He wants you there, He’ll get you there.

•    Will I lose my scholarships and loans?
Nope. While you are out, you will be enrolled as a full time student so your loans are not deferred. Scholarships are dependent on their specifications.

•    What is short term/long term?
Short-term missions range from 1 day to 2 months. Long-term missions are longer than two months, averaging 1-2 years.

How old do I have to be?
Each call has its own specifications. As long as you meet the requirements for that call, you are good to go!
